In any interview, questions are asked to elicit facts or statements from the
interviewee, that’s what an interview is all about. Here are certain insights to
help you crack an interview better.
1.
Your Preparedness
It’s
really worth doing a background check before attending an interview as that’s
one thing that really impresses an interviewer
2. Carry yourself confidently
Reach
on time, switch off your cell phone & dress for success. The way you carry
yourself does make a lot of difference and gives your confidence a boost.
3. Positive Approach
Never play a chronic complainer or badmouth your former
company, boss or peers as you might not be taken as a team player.
4.
Be honest, but don’t keep confessing!!!
Interviewers are generally impressed if you confess
what you have learnt from your failure showcasing your self-awareness, humility
and acceptance because a person who declares to have no weakness is seen as
arrogant and ignorant or defensive.
5. Follow ups might help
Following up may
give you the competitive edge over someone else.
6.
The Right fit?
HR looks for whether a job candidate is a good fit i.e.
if you are someone who will fit in well with the company culture and will work
well the team. Sometimes these might be the deciding factors.
When
you Google out what questions can be asked in a HR interview. You get questions
where you would be required to explain yourself, your strengths and weakness,
hobbies, projects, why that company, how you handle stress and a lot of common similar
things. Most of the times, the interviewer is well aware of your Google
answers, sometimes it even gets too mechanical if you come in so prepared
mugging all the answers. Basically the interviewer either looks out for an out
of the box thinking or your originality. But majorly HR’s do get impressed with
the kind of dedication you have and the effort that you have put up. Never miss
to ask your references before including them in your resume and only include
those who you certainly would give you a positive referral.
End
of the day what is more important is the right attitude. Someone has rightly
said walk-in with the right attitude and walk out with an offer and I really do
believe that because everything else can be taught if you have the right
attitude.
